China: Travelling to a culturally relevant destination

Change and innovation are not buzzwords for China,if you plan travelling there you can find eco-resorts, amusement parks, theme attractions and more….

 

OCT's original theme park in China celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Domestic tourists are travelling there, its popularity getting higher and higher among outbound touism that includes among travelling tips, due to a strong focus on cultural performances, as each day features three or four large-scale shows. Every two years, a new major attraction or performance is introduced, encouraging old & newcomers travelling there again.

OCT currently operates a few parks that receive a total of 13.5 million visitors travelling especially for that from all over the country.

The first one opened to the public was Splendid China (1989).

It features miniatures of some of China's best-known sites, so outbound and inbound tourists can choose experiencing China must-see while travelling in the park, than travelling all over the huge country. Later the park merged with the Folk Culture Village, which was opened in 1991.Windows of the World Shenzhen was added to the cluster of attractions and features miniature and true scale replicas of historical, architectural, and cultural icons of the world in 1994.

The most popular is Happy Valley Shenzhen,that spreads out over an area of 35 hectares, opened at 1998, maximum capacity of 50,000 visitors a day. It has 9 theme zones and 100 attractions .The rate of repeat travelling visitors is 40 %.

When Happy Valley Shanghai opens(2010) , it will have the first wooden coaster in the country. The "space shuttle" ride, the 60-meter water flume-all these are very advanced in the entire world.

OCT has also Happy valley of Beijing (2006),Happy Valley of Chengdu(2009).

Visitors profiles for each Happy Valley Park differ, and the climate and leisure preferences of each market is shaping the resulting crowds of tourists traveling

far away especially for visiting them.

The Senzzhen park in the south is just a little more than an hour travelling by train to Hong Kong –home to the venerable Ocean Park (1977), as well as Hong Kong Disneyland, which was opened in 2005.Less than one hour travelling from Shenzhen is Guangzhou, a safari, golf facilities, hotels and an amusement park(148 acres),Chimelong Paradise.

The last news are of Disney's entry into Shanghai , opening 2010!
