Take a Day Trip to Spring Green, Wisconsin

Bright green grassy plains line the Wisconsin River in the quaint town of Spring Green, Wisconsin.

However, the beautiful landscapes aren’t all that Spring Green has to offer.  Spring Green is the home of two of the world’s most unique works of architecture, as well as a slew of events and activities that make it a great day trip destination.
The architecture is what draws the most visitors to Spring Green.  This Wisconsin town is home to two unique structures - famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin and The House on the Rock.
Taliesin was once the family home of Frank Lloyd Wright, which was later transformed into an architectural school.  The property is still home to a school, but visitors are also invited to tour the school and property.  More expensive tours, which are recommended for fans of Wright, take visitors around the full property, inside the home and into Wright’s gardens.  At the Taliesin gift shop you can buy everything from gifts to books to Frank Lloyd Wright furnishings and more.
The House on the Rock is one of the strangest structures and museums you’ll ever see.  The house is a jumble of architecture, with rooms suspended over woods, winding paths, the world’s largest carousel and a huge collection of oddities, toys and more.  It takes about four hours to wander through the House on the Rock.
Aside from Taliesin and The House on the Rock, there are a number of other exciting activities for Spring Green visitors.  On a nice day you can go canoeing in the Wisconsin River, play a 9-hole game of golf at the Village of Spring Green Municipal Golf course, or go for a walk in Tower Hill State Park.
Yearly events and festivals also take place in Spring Green.  Each summer, the American Players Theater hosts an outdoor Shakespeare festival.  One weekend each December is Spring Green Country Christmas, and the whole city is filled with charming Christmas events, including special tours at the House on the Rock.  Each September is the Spring Green Literary Festival, with three authors, lunch and workshops for writers.  Whenever you visit Spring Green, you’ll always find something exciting to do, whether you enjoy architecture, sports, culture or simple country life.
