Suzhou - A Paradise of Abundance

For a journey you won’t soon forget, consider Suzhou in China’s Yangtze Delta where a bounty of lakes, ponds and waterfalls make it worthy of the nickname “the Venice of the Orient.”

When planning your trip to this part of the world, don’t concern yourself with choosing the proper season, as Suzhou’s climate is mild throughout the year.  This not only accounts for the plethora of recreational activities but for the land’s bounty of products.  For this reason, Suzhou is also considered “paradise on earth.”

As the birthplace of the Wu civilization and thousands of years of history, Suzhou counts on a wealthy heritage which beckons to be discovered.  So when you map out an itinerary for touring the city, include the array of landmarks and allow time for visiting the many gardens that now appear on the list of World Heritage sites.  Visit the museums that display poems, paintings and calligraphy works considered a vital representation of the country’s past.

Among the sites not to be missed are the famous 400 year old Lingering Gardens showcasing stunning halls, streams and bright color structures.  View the Humble Administrator’s Garden with its unique layout dating to the Ming Dynasty meriting impressive awards.  Go to the Couple’s Garden, a respite from the hustle and bustle of the traffic and a romantic escape showcasing old but well preserved trees, canals and buildings.
