Festivals around the World

Festivals around the WorldThe best time to travel anywhere in the world is during festivals and celebrations.

Music, food, dancing and festivities can really bring out the fun and excitement in your trip, and give you a first-hand look into the culture of the place you are visiting.  Every year, hundreds of exciting festivals take place around the globe.  Don’t miss out on the excitement of going to at least one of these festivals in your lifetime!
In the United States, one of the most popular festivals is Mardi Gras in New Orleans, which occurs on Fat Tuesday, just before Lent. During Mardi Gras, costumed locals crowd the streets in a number of parades, dancing, laughing and throwing beads, coins and other Mardi Gras “loot” from parade floats.  Don’t miss out on the amazing Cajun cuisine and the famous King Cake.
In South America, Brazilians celebrate Carnival at the same time as Mardi Gras.  The largest celebration takes place in Rio de Janeiro with parades, block parties, dancing, Brazilian music and costumes.  Carnival is one of Brazil’s busiest tourist seasons.
For a truly unique cultural experience, visit China during the Chinese New Year.  Chinese New Year in China is one of the largest celebrations on earth, with parades with dragons, costumes and more.  Chinese New Year opens up two weeks of holidays and celebrations.
Tourists with an adventurous streak will enjoy heading to Spain to participate in the famous Running of the Bulls during the nine-day festival of San Fermin, which takes place every year in Pamplona.  San Fermin takes place each July.
There are also a number of annual film festivals around the world that are worth attending, including the Sundance film festival in Utah and Cannes in the South of France.  Music lovers will enjoy attending some of the world’s coolest music festivals including the Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago, the Buenos Aires Festival de Tango in Argentina, the Oahu Slack Key Guitar Festival in Hawaii, and the Coachella Valley Music Festival in California.
Traveling during festival season can add some extra pizzazz and excitement to any trip.  During festivals, locals let all their inhibitions go and you can experience the culture of the country you are visiting in its rawest and most beautiful form.
